ravikanth
Hello,
I am trying to delete template in joomla. I am not able to delete it. It shows the following error

* It was not possible to delete the selected file.: 'en-GB.tpl_ja_purity.ini'
* It was not possible to delete the selected file.: 'en-GB.tpl_ja_purity.ini'
* It was not possible to delete the selected file.: 'component.php'

The template is not the default template.

I have had this issue, the problem is that when you upload, Joomla writes the files and HTTPD (apache user). However it should really use FTP layer and write files as you. And since we do not have suPHP here, your files get owned by HTTPd and you can not delete them anymore. The only way I been able to get around that is to use a PHP script to chmod all the files to 777 then deleting them. However in cases where you want to keep those files you have no chance unless you are on Server 2 or Server 3 which run Direct Admin. In which case the file manager in Direct Admin allows you to reset the ownership on those files. Really annoying as it is a problem on Joomla's part.

that is the same problem that happens when you use PHP to upload files...
as rvec already said you will need to reset the OWNERSHIP of the files so that your user can delete them instead of using the APACHE user to delete them...
