Microsoft's new search engine Bing

the-guide
Bing is Microsoft's new search engine now available online and replaces Live Search.

Some people have found its results stronger. Just take a look at....

Bing will most likely take market share from Yahoo!. However, Bing, whether it succeeds or not, will force Google to keep innovating search, and the new pay per click competition will ensure that Google doesn't get too greedy. Smile

They should have put off the release to not coincide with Google's I/O events. I took a quick look at it and it is better than before.

Looks better than Wolfram Alpha and Mahala too, but time will tell.

i dont think it is faster than charcimenia

I've notice that Bing has begun sending traffic to my websites (with Google Analytics installed)
but Bing currently shows up as a referring site in the traffic sources reports instead the default
list of search engines as "Live Search" used to in Google Analytics.

However, today I've found that Google Analytics already moved "Bing" to the list of search engines by default. Wink

Bing is interesting, but due to the massive amounts of Porn that can turn up when you least expect it, I'm not planning on using it.

They're logo is awful. The pictures are pretty. I still use google.

Yes, we have found Bing to have replaces the default MSN search in Google Analytics by now. They really had no choice as that is the direction Microsoft is moving to.

It is an ok search engine. From using it the past week or so I would still use Google as my main search engine though. To me it is like Clusty, an interesting diversion I would use once in a while instead of a 'Google killer'.

Bing is trying to present bit different than the search engine alone. But what I experienced, it requires lot of internet speed. Moreover when searching for images, it opens so lot of thumbnails all with circle moving round and round. For us in Nepal where internet connection is not that fast, find bing less useful.
dorinn
it looks good .. but i find its results weaker
Tphilakone
Great its simple and fast but im not sure is bing can beat google or not
pumpin
i think it takes a lot of resemblance with msn search, though better. Also i think microsoft should look more into fillter control to avoid unscrupulous content Exclamation

I like Bing because suddenly there are 50% traffic increase referred from Bing.

And here are a few excerpts that what Google CEO, "Eric Schmidt" interviewed on Fox Business Network (June 09, 2009) talking about Bing...

Quote:
It's not the first (search-engine market) entry for Microsoft. They do this about once a year. From Bing's perspective, they have a bunch of new ideas and there are some things that are missing. We think search is about comprehensiveness, freshness, the scale and size of what we do. And it's difficult for them to copy that. ......

Laughing .... (and more) .... just look more on Fox Business video. Laughing

I like what I see so far with Bing. It's a lot cleaner and better than anything they've done before in the search engine field.

Yea, I think this is one of the better search engines they've made, but I don't think they will be going anywhere fast with it. Google dominates to much. You just can't get around that.

I love their search engine! It is the best! I have set it to my default to both of my internet's!

Microsoft had Map function on Bing but they require to install Activex object or anything to view their maps on your pc. Anybody confirmed this thing. Question I don't like how Microsoft control map function like as Yahoo has been made on Yahoo! Maps. Please review http://www.esiportal.110mb.com/map-search.shtml to see how Google Maps easy use Question I interated Google Maps API on my site and i very like their pre-defined codes. with Yahoo! Maps, they has also provide their API codes for developers but they don't easy use. If you think that i wrong, please post your solutions on here.

I like this new search engine. You know the library's comps have replaced google with bing?
gorilla5
I like it. But I like anything new.

Trying them out but I find better results still with Google. Their new tools are useful and trying to get use to it.

The acceptance has been good, wonder if it's the marketing or if it's actually good.

As for the picture, I'm undecided. I like most of them but somethings I don't like the pics because it makes it too clutter.
moning292
It is quite good but it looks like google too.

I don't know how about other but for me I've found that I'm getting a lot more and more traffic from Bing increasing every month (organic search) since they change from Live Search. Smile

I'm not a big fan of Bing. It's a decent search engine, but I'm still sticking with Google. I just don't see anything that's really that special about Bing.
maaji
But Google is always Best ever Smile

Why bing will fail, no matter how good it is, it's slow compared too google.
Google is simple, a box and an icon. bing is fancy artwork, etc... Maybe its just me but don't make things complicated when they don't have too be. ,y 2 cents.
spring567
I like google better.
Ghost Rider103
Bing is definitely the best search engine Microsoft has even came out with. This is the cleanest of them all, and will probably be the most successful of all.

I don't see how it looks like Google... Google does not use a photo on their home page like Bing. Bing is pretty original as far as I know.

Even though I think it's the best they've done, I am still sticking with Google. It's just a habit to use Google after using it for so long. Plus I use a few other things from Google, so I don't plan on changing anytime soon.

Just learned something new. I did not know that Bing belonged to Microsoft. My first exposure to Bing was last week when Frihost was down. Everytime when Frihost timed out, it automatically went to the Bing Search Engine page with the frihost address in the search box.

I will try it out for a while, to see how it compares with Yahoo.

I've just checked it out and I like its uncluttered look and having an option to see a page full of news or not. The photo is much nicer. Smile
fantoos
Bing come up with some advance search results but still I prefer Google for good results for the website.

I tried Bing, but what irritated me is that when it refreshes itself, which it does quite often, the Window I'm working on freezes temporarily. So probably I should not have it open when I'm working on other Windows. With Yahoo I don't know it's there. So am back to Yahoo again.
