What Genre Do You Consider SOAD?
Just wondering what genre everyone thinks SOAD is.
Personally by description (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hard_rock) It sounds more like a hard rock band which is proven through the song Vicinity of Obscenity

System of a Down is just... odd. Hard rock is probably close enough. 
They're indisputably all of those. There's really not a popular band around today that fits nicely into one genre to be honest.
I'd say hard rock is cloest.
A lot of bands are very diverse. The genre of their music changes with every song. Or even within a song.
Genres are overrated. Not really fitting cleanly into any genre, System of a Down illustrates the lack of any need to. I would call them... System of a Down. I would call them... pretty damn good.
I say it's completely irrelevant what genre they play. The question is if they play any good. To me, the answer to that question is, unfortunately, no.
System has invented a new style.

nu metal 
I think they're good at what they do. Hard rock that is. But if I do listen to nu-metal-ish bands I always end up listening to Sevendust- I think they have a much thicker sound- easily satisfying my quench for aggression. But yeah, SOAD is still a good hardrock/numetal band.
They kinda rap... accompanied by heavy distorted guitars... so thats nu metal for me..
they have all the characteristics of a Nu metal band.
i only like 2 SOAD songs, i like BYOB and bounce, they the only songs by them i will listen to, although they only got a lot popular cuz of GH - WT!
They're a genre of their own. Not an easy band to label IMAO
