Locked Out of Computer Network (one way only)

Possum
Hi

I have two computers networked together (XP) Possum and Optiplex755

In this example I was on Possum trying to get onto Optiplex755

Optiplex755 has full working access to Possum . When I tried to give the Possum access to the Optiplex755 I got this dialog box.

What changes do I need to make. And where to fix this problem.

Thank you....

Try connecting with your username and password on the Optiplex755 account that you want to connect with. You may have to put the computer name in front of the username as so:

Optiplex755\user

See if that fixes anything, then report back!

Hi

I have no idea what my username and password are. I just bought this computer. Its running in admin. But needs no password or username when I boot up

Thx

Whoops, missed that. Smile The username is the username that is located in the start menu, as seen here:

So instead of the username being John Doe, it may be something such as "user" or "admin." For security reasons, you may want to put a password on the computer.

So I should give myself a password and username.

That will mean I need to log on with them all the time.. I remember there is a way to get around that.

But is there a way for my computer not to require this log on window to appear

thank you

If you make the username and password the same on both computers you won't need to login, unless that's a feature of newer Windows.

There is a pattern here

Only one of my computer prints on my network. I was a advised to do this to fix that problem as well.

Might have to give this a go..

Thank you

I've had a problem with printing over the network with XP and Vista (XP being the one with the printer). It's never worked for me, always giving me a bidirectional (or something around those lines) error. Upon upgrading to Windows 7 I can print flawlessly, if I have any ink. Smile

All my passwords are the same on each of my computers, except for my server.

u may have to reinstall windows if you cant remember the password or anything. try the restore disks before you reinstall windows tho.
