After an intense couple of weeks, with three of four conference semi-finals going to seven games (and the other going to six games), as well as the Sid v Alex matchup and the last two Cup winners playing.
We now have the matchups set for the Conference Finals...
In the West, an original six match up between Detroit and Chicago
Logic says that Detroit have too much strength and experience... but Chicago have youth and a never say die attitude (coming from 2 and 3 goals behind multiple times). I'm picking Chicago in 6 games.
In the East, last year's finalists, Pittsburgh take on Carolina (who seem to make the Final each time they make the playoffs).
Pittsburgh have been on fire since they changed coaches, and got Sergei Gonchar back. Crosby matched up well against Ovechkin, and Malkin didn't wake up 'til the end of the series.. Carolina on the other hand have upset New Jersey and Boston - so who says they can't win it all. Add to that, Cam Ward in goal has NEVER lost a playoff series. I think Pittsburgh have too much strength, so I'm picking Pittsburgh in 5 games.
Any thoughts ?
Malcolm
