Slumdog Millionaire child star Rubina Ali's father, Mr. Rafiq Asghar Ali Qureshi, apparently wanted become a millionaire by selling his nine-year-old daughter, News of the World website reported after conducting a sting operation. The website reports that in a bid to escape slum life, Rafiq Qureshi had put Rubina up for adoption, demanding 2,00,000 pounds.

However, Qureshi has denied the report.

There were ugly scenes outside the home of one of the child stars of Slumdog Millionaire today when Rubina Ali's mother demanded that the young actress be removed from the care of her father.

Absolutely! One can probably even say money corrupts. Maybe they would have been better off without the involvement in the movie. They are unable to manage the trappings of it.

Have you ever been to slums of Mumbai? If you reach there once, you would never complain to God for anything but simply thank him for the life you have now. Its that bad...

I get that feeling of sheer desperation on a much smaller scale in the Middle East sometimes. When hundreds of Indian construction workers compete to get into a bus. It is so much ingrained in them to compete for space on mother earth. I probably can't imagine Mumbai really, but am glad I am where I am. Crowds have never been my cup of tea ever. Smile

i think thy should have taken children from a western country that have a very indien background then there wouldnt have been a money problem and no one would be trying to sell each other

No, no, no. Being human corrupts. Having money or power gives them a chance to display that corruption.

So sad, i heard that this was caught in sting operation. Life of people in slums of Mumbai is horrible. Because of this movie their life portrait came in front of eyes all over the world.
According to what i read her father had decided to sell her before only.but he dint get good price.
Now he is refusing this it seems.Good things is that those children got second life because of movie.

Talking about Mumbai, a crowd of more than 60 lakh passengers commute via the local trains daily.
These are not just workers.
There are people of all types, ranging from schoolkids, collegegoers, officers, workers, businessmen and high-level executives.............the main reason being of the efficient rail service, via which you can reach much earlier than via the road traffic.
Whereas in second class compartments people fight for footspace, in first class compartments people fight for space to use their laptops.

Overpopulation and constant influx of people from other cities are the main factors behind this situation.

Overpopulation in the world has to be its greatest challenge, I wonder if they do research how much of overpopulation is responsible for global warming, including the indirect effect of mass production of products, goods and services, air pollution, pollution of rivers, erosion of tree plantations.
