Does Block a country method work at Frihost servers? Is there a better way to stop traffic from some countries to prevent waste of bandwidth and spam?

Sometimes your site can be DDOSed or linked by hackers from particular country (a picture from mine was once hotlinked at large chinese blog. It had just ruined my bandwidth). Or you can be spammed with mail.
ok thanks, how it should be find out its very difficult
the site generates a .htaccess file to block an ip range. It should work if the ip ranges they have for the countries are valid.

As I said in the first post, to prevent waste of bandwidth and spam (some countries are notorious as motherland of the most active spammers in the world). Take a look at this thread where people discussed troubles caused by users from a specific country.

You can use .htaccess to create some hotlinking protection rules as well.
