Drivers for Intel(R) 82801G (ICH7 Family) Ultra ATA Storage

titus1972
Hello.. I have a driver problem on my computer. I installed Vista Ultimate and it will not pick up my 250 GB HD when I get to the desktop. It is an EIDE ultra 133. The BIOS picks it up fine. I have a gigabyte ga8i945p-g motherboard, 4 megs of RAM, 2 sata DVD-R drives and 1 SATA 500GB drive. All the drives are fine. The EIDE drive works because I had it running under XP. I went to the gigabyte web site they did not have Vista drivers for this. I went to the Intel site and installed the INF utility driver 9.0 for the 945P express chipset. I suspect that its the Intel(R) 82801G (ICH7 Family) Ultra ATA Storage Controllers - 27DF. I cannot seem to find the driver for this anywhere. I do not want to uninstall Vista and go back to XP in order to see this EIDE drive on my desktop. Any help is greatly appreciated

Also, during a standard upgrade from XP to Vista or XP to XP (as in a reinstall) if you maintain the files (not folders) in the following directories you can safely restore the drivers by hand.
**All directories are standard install**

C:\Windows\
C:\Windows\system32
C:\Windows\inf
C:\Windows\system32\drivers

In order to restore the drivers by hand, you can open the device manager, (right click on my computer-->manage-->device manager) and right click-->update driver for anything that isn't working correctly. Do not connect to the microsoft website, but install the driver manually (advanced). You can then navigate to each of these folders and select each individual .dll , .inf , or .cat file.[/quote]
