Service Pack 2 Help

Hi All, I ran a batch file the other day to add Vista SP2 to windows update, it worked and i ran the update, however the update fails. I've tried everything i ca find on the net to get it to run but i can't get it to go! So i thought bugger it, just leave it be and wait for the final release of SP2. However now i cant get Windows update to stop buggin me to update to SP2. Is there anyway to remove the update from windows update? Cheers

Might help if you told us which batch file, and where you got it from. Smile

Cheers.

Are you sure it wasn't SP1? SP2 isn't even released as a Release Candidate yet. I could understand for SP1, but not SP2 as of yet. Also, running a batch file to add service pack to Windows Update is obviously a bad idea. Like Fire said, where did you get the batch file from. The SP2 came in a installation file when I tried it so you're probably infected with something.

A sp2 will not improve your experience.
some say it's even slower than sp1.

Can i know whether the servicepack 2 is necessary for all xp systems

You don't need to have Server Pack 2 on your Windows XP. The windows works just fine without it.
Some softwares need Server Pack 2, so they can run properly on windows, especially Microsoft's softwares.
