Best CMS for personal sites?

Arty
What's the best CMS or program to use for like...personal homepages and sites?
I'm planning to have several simple blogs on it, one main blog, a portfolio page, and other MISC. pages.

Wordpress is great so far, but it's not really what I'm looking for.

Well ... i was searching something simple and lightweight to use for backend sites ... I was even determined to write my own script for such thing but ... I found Pixie ...
It's realy simple, have only somthing just little above 1MB when .zip, or ~3MB unzipped ... and it support SEO links, generate sitemap for google and is easy to customize Smile
And it won't kill Your host like WordPress with some plugins Smile
Juy may try it ... maybe that's the thing You're looking for ... the www is:

http://www.getpixie.co.uk/

If You know something about php, css, programming ... then the learning process will take You something like ~10 minutes Smile

I have to say that I enjoy using Wordpress the most. It is the most flexible and powerful Content Management System I have run across and once you have your website set up and running it is a breeze to continue to update it. Also another plus when using wordpress is since it is so popular with so many people it is very easy to get help when you have a question, get add-ons for the themes, get widgets for the themes, and of course free themes all together.

I tried Joomla, but it is overcomplicated!
The themes that exist for it are really bad, it's difficult to make your own theme, and the CMS itself is very hard to use. I know this is probably why it's so powerful, but it's just too much unnecessary stuff for me to want.

That were my first thoughts also when I started using Joomla, but now, after some practice, I have absolutely no problems any more. And Joomla may be difficult to use, this also makes it very flexible: you can really make it unique.

Well ... as I said before ... WordPress, Joomla - those are gr8, when You want a real big site ... but for example if You have some kind of free host (or verry cheap) then WordPress + few plugins + 2000unique visitors per day may kill such server Smile

And about beeing flexible ... most flexible is yur own code ... frameworks such like Kohana PHP are nice too Smile

the best one is the one you can use easier... for some people it is joomla, for other it is CMS made simple, for other it is wordpress, and so on... you will have to try them and see which one you learn to use faster... that is the best one for YOU...

Joomla is the best cms, simple and transparent program. Component Virtumart created for building e-shops is very complex. If you can editing CSS and HTML code, you can making individual projects. Drupal is so complicated.
