So where in the world is frihost located?

Well, I think its quite a stupid question, as I always ask stupid stuff! Very Happy Razz

but where exactly is frihost, I mean the country..city..

Nothing personal.. just wanted to know..
and yaa, are all the mods, admins also from the same place, or are they from various parts of the world?

FriHost is in the US. Run any whois search for more info:

The staff is spread across the whole world. I'm from Israel, for example.

Wasn't the first server on Belgium or Holland or something like that?
I've that idea, I read it in some post, at least I think... Maybe I'm just confusing Razz

As far as I know, FriHost was always hosted in the US, but Bondings is the one who should know for sure Razz

When I looked at the page, I saw the server version was 1.3.37, I realized that it's the domain host that is using that version. I wonder why they're so outdated.

Well, usually Bondings contacts you through the forum, or at least it was like that at first... I guess today one of the other admins can contact you. What I'm trying to say that we don't meet each other in real life or something.

I think you can find it by checking the host ip address. You can have it form cpanel.
and then try some IP look up site.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't the physical server located in the Savvis Datacenter in Dallas, Texas, USA?

I'm a total dud as far as IP's are concerned. The little I know however is that one should try and keep your IP hidden as much as you can, if you can. I checked up Animal's Website (http://www.e-ignite.co.uk/html/anonymous_surfing.html), and on his "Anonymous Surfing" page he gives a number of Websites one can use in order to protect your IP number from being abused by others. Along self-protection lines, I was quite excited about those. But when I tried to access the Websites so that I could use their services, discovered that all of those Websites are banned in the UAE.

The domaintools Website you suggested is not banned, and I had no problem registering etc.. I did try our new IP numbers that Bondings provided to us in his blog last week as I am also curious to know exactly where our servers are. The one IP could not be identified, the other one came up with a strange Website. Situated in Plano, Texas. Anyway, the feeling I had while I was doing that is maybe IP numbers are confidential. I felt uncomfortable doing that, am I being silly? I do quite a lot of surfing, and I really would like to keep my ID hidden, especially from crazy people. However on the other side of the coin, Government people may be suspicious of people wishing to hide their IP numbers and equally people may not wish me to know who they are. They may feel as protective of their IP number as I would like to protect my own.

So here is a related question to this thread, what policies are there (not only Frihost but in general) with regard to confidentiality of IP numbers and what would your advice be to help us protect ourselves with regard to our IP numbers without making ourselves look suspicious in the process?

Its in the backyard of my house. Ohh sorry for spilling it out!! Actually I run these kind of business in the backyard of my house. You can find anything from nuclear bomb, google server or raptor planes parked underground. Jeez how can I shell out soo much knowledge...

FriHost servers are in ths US. But admins are in the UK.
