Surfing

Surfing is definitly my favorite sport. I follow the professional part of it semi-religiously, and i do it myself every weekend. Of course, Florida doesnt pump out the best stuff in the world (other than Kelly Slater). Anyone else addicted to this?

I used to surf a lot in my younger days ! Nowadays, if I stand on the surfboard it turns into a submarine ! Anyways, we have some great surf here on the southern tip of africa - Checkout http://www.redbullbwa.co.za/

Cheers,
Nick.

haha! Dont give up! There is always something that floats you. After i got started surfing, my dad got into it, and bought a board, which didnt float him at all. He bought another one a little while ago that we got a cut price because a buddy shaped it for us Laughing , and it was a few feet longer, but mostly thicker. It now floats him fine, and he is out there with me every weekend. wow, thats amazing. its my dream one day to surf something that big! I think the biggest ive surfed in was a week or two ago. When we got the hurricanes off the coast of Florida, pumping up some eight to nine footers at the right spot.

Well i surf in the summer many times.. I try to do my best.. but its diffucult to be a good surfer i think.. You have to do a lot of work before you can surf on some 'hard' places.
Eyre
yes, sometimes some of the waves are TOO big depending on what conditions you surf in. Hurricanes have been popular here in florida Razz. Anyways, even for me, ive been surfing for four years now, and im pretty much more in shape than the whole football team at my school, i have trouble paddling out in that stuff. You just can't give up, it's very fun once you get the hang of it.

im snowboarding like 3-4 times a week...but i never had the chance to try surfing!
does anyone of you also snowboard? how hard is changing from a snowboard to a surfboard? should be more or less the same, huh? Smile
Eyre
I want to try snowboarding SO bad. I've never seen snow. From what i've heard though, its relatively similar to surfing. Except a wee bit warmer maybe.

I was lucky enough to go surfing for the weekend in Cornwall, UK this summer. Only been doing it a couple of years but i can catch most waves and stand up. Cant do anything but go straight but its a start i suppose!

I have been surfing since I was 15, and that's more years than you wanna know.

I started in New Zealand, great waves but COLD water most of the year.
Then in Australia for many years, now I'm in Indonesia.

Indonesia is definetly the best, great waves, warm water. Only one problem, if you live in Jakarta it's at least a 4 hour drive to the surf. Jakarta is on the north coast, all the waves are on the south coast.

Bali is ok, Ombak Tujuh is great, Nias was, untill the sunami lifted it out of the water 1m, now there's no waves there I have heard,

I like surfing in Indo because there are hardly any crowds. 20 people is way crowded here. At Ombak Tujuh we get average 5 or 6 people on the weekends. some days you can be the only one out. Paradise.

Surfing ,i remember me when i was first time introduced to the Net by our sir in my school. That was the begining i remember. After that i and my friends were just addicted to the Net.Playing games and chatting,Viewing different sites, etc.I discovered more things on that,Now i dont go out of control because i have access to BroadBand connection and now days i am more aware of my eyes too Smile
Still i remember those days in schools when we had less number of PC's and we use to fight to sit on them during interval too.

I've only done windsurfing so far and I love it. For surfing I should go too far away to find a good spot, while windsurfing you can do almost everywhere where there is water.

Instead of fighting waves, your fighting wind.

The freedom feeling is there, believe me.

(Ever tried to surf down a wave in a boat, with wind coming from behind. Now THAT gives a great feeling Smile )
