Adobe In-Design

Can someone offer me a decent description of In-Design. I have used the entire Creative Suite II - Photoshop, Illustrator, Dreamweaver, even Flash, but I find it hard to wrap my head around how IN-Design fits in...

Is it a bridge between all the other programs?

InDesign is propably the best DTP software around. Very usefull and powerfull software.
