I would like to have one article always on the front page. So that when I add articles that it just stays on the first position. I have searched a bit around, but I didn't find any solution.
Joomla front page
you can add a static page as the index... and then send to the articles pages...
to do that all you need is to move the static page to the top of the menu...

I didn't mean that. I'm just looking for a way to place an article on my frontpage as the first, so that when I add other articles, it stays first.

I am sorry I can't help with that... I am not really good with joomla...
but I think you can do that on the article page... there might be an option to make it sticky
I know how!
STEPS:
1. Open your website up.
2. Log in.
3. Go to administration area.
4. Then on the main screen click "Front Page Manager""
5. Now find the article that was on your front page. And Click it.
6. Locate "Parameters" Located in the upper right hand corner.
7. If the menu isn't dropped down click it.
8. Find "Finish Publishing" (Note: If your don't see it, but you see the top of it click the top part of the "Finish Publishing box and it'll show you the whole thing.)
9. The click the "Calender" (Note: There is no way to have it always on the main page, but set it at like Year "2053" and I sure it'l always stay there.)
10. Enjoy your Front Page!
NOTE: Also you may want to type in "Never" for the ending day and it might work I am testing it out now. So I will post the results.

Thanks for the help but I was looking for a way to let it stay on the first position; with older versions of Joomla you could add -1 in the order column but now (1.5.9) this doesn't work anymore

You can setup two modules to do this. The first one points to the first article that does not change.
The second one is something like mod_newsflash. You can keep adding articles to it and it displays newer ones first.
Go to the module manager in Joomla. That will get you what you need.
For more information, go to Joomla.org and visit the help section. There are PDFs you can download that help with information like this. Also, go to YouTube and search for 'Joomla Tutorial'. You can find some helpful information with those.
