Yucca Mountain

Xanatos
Obama has decided to cut the funding for the deep geological repository for nuclear waste that was being built at Yucca Mountain. More than likely the project will be scrapped altogether. Almost ten billion has been spent on the project to date, and scrapping the project will likely cost countless more. In addition, there is no proposed alternative to the Yucca Mountain site. What are everyones thoughts on this issue.

Good point Laughing
One wonders what he is going to do with the nuclear waste however? Stockpile it in the Carlsbad salt mines, New Mexico?

And if he plans on weaning the US from foreign oil as he claims, how can he do that without alternative energy? Seems idiotic to me.

Absolutely. The whole complaining about our addiction to foreign oil- while not drilling in Alaska or advancing nuclear technology- is completely backwards.
