Do any of you have one of these astronomy lasers? My coworker has a green one; he can point out stars with it - it's amazing! I am looking to get a green one too. Supposedly the blue ones are the best but the cheapest I can find is still several hundred US$ so I'm going with green

I was not aware of these lasers, they look cool. Is their any study which shows what their exposure to human body can do?
What is the range? I could not find that info on the website.
Thanks.

The only effect a laser will have is raising the temperature of what it shines on. An extremely powerful laser (more than these astronomy lasers) could cause small, localized burns. (Enough of those in one line could become a cut.) Of course, they can also burn out the photo-receptors in your eyes if they shine directly on them.
Basically, they'll do the same thing to you an ordinary light bulb would, except more intense and focused on a tiny part, not spread out.
I have one of 5mW.
You can point with full charge at one range of 10~15km..
It's very dangerous if you live around of an airport.
There's a lot of reports by pilots saying which has been almost blinds by green lasers in Australia.
Take care if you have or are going to buy one! That's not an toy!

Yeah, but the thing is that's just a bunch of teens (i know this is generalization and i hate doing it but being a teen myself and seeing what some of my peers do is sickening.) thinking that it's cool when in fact its extremely stupid, they should put an age restriction on them like cigarettes and alcohol.
