We use many softwares daily. But there are few programs that we really like very much. Do you have some programs that left a deep impression in you? if yes, please post here. The program may be game also!
Best software you have used
Best software in/at/for what?
Software is used for many different purposes, and it would be very difficult to compare Photoshop, which is for editing pictures with Family Treemaker, which is a genealogy program. Thus, I can't say one program is the best one I use. Here are the ones I use in different areas, and in most cases I really like them. Also, in most cases, I only use a small portion of the power of these programs:
Financial: Quicken (currently 2009)
Graphics: Adobe Fireworks (previously a Macromedia product)
Website editing: Adobe Dreamweaver (also previously a Macromedia product)
Genealogy: Ancestral Quest or Family Treemaker (like both equally)
File Comparison: ExamDiff Pro
Word Processing: MS Word
Spreadsheet: MS Excel
Database, Desktop: MS Access
Database, Web: MS SQL Server
Middleware (Server side access to databases from web pages): ColdFusion
Operating System: Microsoft XP Pro or Media Center
Those are my top eleven.

Well ... there are few aps which I have to have always
First of all - Adobe Photoshop and Aptana (I need them for my work ... I'm webdev), next Total Commander and last but not least - FOOBAR (just to make my workday nicer).
ANd yeah -- there is Firefox/Opera/IETester for debug/testing and WAMP to have APache/MySQL locally

Hmm, well my experienced is a little bit limited in respects. Mostly because I don't have a need for certain types of software, and otherwise because I always look for the best regardless!
So here's my little list:
C++ Programming: C++ Builder
Web Browsing: Firefox 3
Music Player: Winamp (2.xx or 5.xx, not 3)
Video/DVD Player: GOM Player
Video Conversion: SUPER
Explorer Alternative: Litestep (haven't used in years though)
Email Client: Thunderbird
Corporate Email: GroupWise 7
Office Productivity: OxygenOffice.org 3 (OOo modified version)
Graphics: Gimp (It's free, and comparable to expensive software)
3D Editing: Blender (I can't really compare it to anything else but I find it intuitive, easy and fun)
FTP: FileZilla
MP3 Tag Editing/File Renaming: Batch File Renamer
DVD Ripping: DVD Shrink and DVD Decrypter
Image Viewing: IrfanView (EVERYONE should have this program)
Text Editing: Metapad (a pure Notepad replacement, should be standard with Windows)

I think Firefox and Adium are tied for the win for me, followed closely by Tweetdeck and (even though this isn't traditional software) Google Calendar!

I was searching for RAW processing software to work with my digital photos. I tried: Capture One, Capture NX2, Raw Therapee, Rawshooter... But the best was LR. It's amazing software, with flawless interface, very intuitative control, features great photo library arrangement, nice processing unit (but lack of U-point technology from Niko's software) and runs fast (NX2 users can tell something about it
). Can't wait for v. 3, what can be done better, when v. 2 is the best?
