How do singles spend their Valentines' Day?

mk12327
I'm currently single and I have no idea what I could do on this day. At the moment I just treat today as any other day and had been spending my time facing my laptop since this morning... Have been hard not to be distracted/affected by all the hooha associated with Valentines' Day... LOL...

Just being curious, or maybe even get some ideas, how do other singles spend their Valentines' Day?
Insanity
Treat it like any other Saturday night. Valentine's Day is just a Hallmark created holiday designed to make you feel like you need to buy something for your significant other anyways.

RubySlasher
Go to have dinner and a movie. Eat chocolate. Play pokemon. Special stuff.

Get really drunk and try to partner up for the night. If that fails, just get really drunk.

Haha... Probably because of mentioning "play pokemon"... =P

Many people do not celebrate Valentine day. Even couples! Just treat it like an ordinary saturday :)

Drink. haha but seriously, do something that you want to do. Something that you enjoy, find your other single friends (and couples too who arent really celebrating) and go o ut and do something fun, go to a party, watch a movie, or just spend all day on the couch eating junkfood, whatever floats your boat.

do people think that every couple celebrates valentines day? I couldn't care less about valentines and I know my man thinks the same. he tells me he loves me whenever he wants, the same as I usually do.

If you want to have a special day then do something special yourself, don't think you need someone to make it special for you, there are many good ideas here. I think it's so bad that people should feel bad that they don't have anyone to spend one day with.

Since here Valentines day isn't observed in February, I really don't care at all about it. Our Hollyday (to call it somehow) is in September and it has a wider meaning. It is called Love and Friendship Day, so going out with your partners to have a good time is pretty normal. People usually play friendship games the days before and interchange gifts. I suppose commercial people find out that sales improve better if they have a wider public for the ocasion. Razz

don't beat yourself up!! how do you treat your single self on february 13 or 15??

We spend it at home with a tub of Chubby Hubby, and envy the millions out there who are spending it with someone special.

Well it depends how you will handle that day..If you used to do every Valentines to hang out with your ex partner before then it would be possibly hard. But if your valentines is always like before(SINGLE), then you don't have to worry but to treat it as like a normal day.

Well sometimes I'm single but sometimes not...
I've learn how to screw up those things into nice and better way than asking your self over the day why god gave you that pain.. Very Happy Very Happy Very Happy

Well as a single 17 year old that's never had a girlfriend, i wallow in self-pity and lower my self-esteem Razz Well not completely, but its not exactly a holiday to be reminded of.

You have two option either you spend this day as a ordinary day or you can do it something funny go outside search any girl and propose her whatever she accept or not do it just for fun who know you got a girlfriend this way because single girls are also want somebody propose them on the Valentine's day.
Alaskacameradude
Being miserable because no one loves them.......not really! But it is this huge 'created' holiday to
make people feel like they have to go out and spend money. When I was single and would be out at
the store on Valentine's day, the sales people would always ask me if I wanted to buy something
special for my girl.....and then I would tell them I didn't have a girlfriend and they would be so shocked
as if EVERYONE had someone.......But you can always use it as a way to find cheap sweet stuff the next
day as the stores sell everything at half off that didn't sell during Valentines day....
babarus
i hate Valentines' Day. why? ... Because all lovers do that ....!

So it comes September again, Love and Friendship day is comming soon, and as usual, I have no love to share it.

So what? I have friends, single as me, whom I can share the night.

My parents got married many years ago this month, so I can also celebrate for them.

Ok, I'm no so tough, I miss having someone special to share this day, but I don't have one. In fact I haven't had any September in my life to share completely with someone else, when I had a "boyfriend" it was a complex situation and I didn't have those Septembers in the way I wanted.

So, why to complain? I don't have it, I never have had it, why should I miss something I've never had?

Let the couples celebrate, I'll do it on my own.

Hmm.. tough question. Although I experienced this long time ago, I remember just doing regular stuffs I do. But to make it a little special, I tried to eat in a restaurant ALONE and walked in the park ALONE.
I just bought brownies to eat and treat my self with a cold milk.

as a normal beautiful day, valentine day should be enjoyed and lived to highest level. as a single person i would say on valentine day i would have fun with family and freinds or just be by myself in blissful happy mood.

its another perfect day which should be enjoyed and i will do just that.

I celebrate St. Valentine's Day the same way Al Capone did... Ok, not really.
St. Valentine's Day is a religious holiday, and as such, I do not celebrate it. Coincidentally, it is also my mother's birthday. Mom is single, so she has no husband or boyfriend to take her out to dinner, so I usually end up doing something with her. Most times, I will cook her a nice dinner and get her a card and a gift.

Sometimes though, I don't feel like cooking, so I take mom out to some place nice for dinner. This is where it gets weird. My mom looks really young, even though she is in her 50's, she actually looks about 30. So we always get these compliments from our wait staff about what a cute couple we are, and how it's sweet that we are on a date on Valentine's Day. Which sends us into hysterical bouts of laughter. Sometimes we don't let them know what's up, and just accept the free drinks or dessert. Other times, I can't help but say something about this being my mom, and how it's her birthday. The utter shock and bewilderment in the faces of the wait staff is classic.

One time, as I went to the restroom to wash up after eating, our waiter passed me in the hall. He made a comment along the lines of "Happy Valentine's Day... *wink*, she's hot" etc etc. Suggesting that I was definitely going to "score" after taking her out for such a nice dinner on V-day. I told him "Yeah, I really hope to get some tonight... but not with this one, she's my MOM!". I won't recount his reaction, I'm sure you can imagine it for yourself.

What an embarrasing moment for that man, one should not do comments about people not knowing who they are.

It's very nice for you inviting out your mother. I give flowers to mine every time I can, even she having my father alive with her, she really enjoy too much my flowers. Mothers always thank the smallest gift from their children, even when we are grown up.

I'm not single anymore..but when I was I would have a blast on Valentine's Day, I'd throw a party at my place and invite everyone. We even made a pi~ata full of candy and condoms lol

If you're single on Valentines Day, be your OWN Valentine.

Buy chocolates and flowers and jewelry for yourself, take yourself out to dinner at a nice restaurant, (or cook yourself an extravagant candlelight dinner at home), and pamper yourself in general.

If you only care about getting laid on Valentines Day, make sure you have porn and lubricant so you can have good sex with yourself if you don't manage to hook up with somebody, and take a long, hot bath first so you're warm, relaxed and tingly.

This may sound pathetic, but it's better than sobbing all evening and eventually drunk-dialing exes at 2:30 in the morning.
Radar
I'm in the 'treat it like any other day' camp.

Walk around and watch other people talking about it while not doing anything yourself.
paskifire
Drink, eat, and if possible date other singles and mingle. If not possible, date your mom.
