Well just wanted to know if there are any Aussies out there! i personally love football and i got for Port power

AFL ( AUSTRALIAN FOOTBAL)

Last year Hawthorn defeated Geelong....
2007 Port lost the grand final....
Anyways, im am a massive St Kilda fan - have been since i was like 6 (am now 29)...very hard team to support because so many times they have gotten close and failed to win it....but i still hold out hope

Hey Guys, I had a quick question.
I'm an American and I love American Football. Are there any similarities between American and Australian football or is it closer to rugby? At the end of the day, it's all about getting a ball across a line right? But what is the difference between rugby and aussie rules?

No, not about getting the ball across a line, Australian Football you kick it between 2 goal posts to score
Its kind of a mixture of Rugby and Soccer (kind of) its a very hard game to describe
If you have ever seen Gaelic Football (Irish) thats probably the closest thing - Except Aussie Football has hard tackling similar to american football
"No, not about getting the ball across a line, Australian Football you kick it between 2 goal posts to score "
Ah, interesting. We do that in American football as well, only for fewer points than crossing the goal line. It's called a field goal. I think they do the same thing in rugby but they do it while running with the ball whereas in American Football, they set up a formation, then snap the ball, then kick it, which makes it pretty much automatic, unless it's a very long kick or strong winds or someone gets a hand on the ball, etc.
Thanks for informing me!

You dont need to inform me on American Football - I follow the NFL pretty closely
ESPN in america does show Australian Football (AFL) games sometimes, you should keep your eye out for it, i know our Grand Final (Superbowl Equivalent) is shown in the states
AFL, the best sport in the world. (I think so)
My team however, isn't the best at the moment. I go for the Sydney Swans, who are not going so well. I've been to the last two matches they've played, against North Melbourne and the Bombers. I wish they hadn't lost that one.
But my god, I hate collingwood.
