Directories don't grant a significant amount of page rank-- it all comes down to how Google rates the uniqueness and usefulness of your sites content (with links from other sources with content). In addition very few people use directories them to find websites. These sites simply aren't worthwhile ways to gain a presence on the Internet Sad

Yeah like Hogwarts said, very few people actually use directories to find websites. I have actually never used one.

Though I do think it counts a little bit, and definitely will not hurt adding your website to multiple directories. I have added my own website to a few hundred directories, and now I am probably going to be adding my website to this nice list. Though I have applied for Dmoz listing many, many times and have been rejected. I don't know what the deal is with them, I hear from a lot of people they have problems getting accepted with them.
