I have spent two days looking for a free domain name but am having a heck of a time.
Tryed Freestarter.com and they STILL cant get an email out to me to register with and FreeDNR.com is a piece of crap. So if anyone has a suggestion I would really appreciate it. Thank you.
theres no such thing as free domains, or if there is, everyone would use those so odds are if they are free, its not gonna be that good, or some kinda scam or something....
they are just $10 a year nowadays, or less... not too horrible...
Let me put this lightly, I have been searching for about 3 1/2 months in the highest, lowest, brightest, and darkest places of the internet for a free .com service, and I still haven't found one with all the looking I have done in those months. So, I've finally given up and am buying myself a domain name for about $9.99 CDN at NetFirms.
Most likely there is no place to get a free domain. But there was a place that some guy was giving away domains for free if you get a certain amount of post's in his forum to make it popular. It is hard to find free top level domain's. You would proberly never find one. I suggest you buy one.
Here's your best bet: get a free webpage and then free domain redirecting. For example, get hosting here and then go to www.d4a.com to get free domain redirecting. You get a domain name; the domain just redirects to your site.
Well, I finally got freestarter.com to work (sort of)
it says my domain name is already taken but that doesnt make sense. It says it isn't everywhere else!
Yeah i might just have to dish out those 10 bucks for a name, oh well.
Sucks trying to pinch a penny sometimes.
Impossible.
Not Possible.
Will Never be Possible.
Won't be Possible.
So now do you get it?
tell you what...sign up for the online survey websites (e.g. gozing.com) and earn money from there...they pay by paypal.
each survey is about $1, so after like 10 surveys you would get enough to buy 1 domain.
That's impossible!
All you can get is www.dot.tk -> .tk domain
There is a catch to the www.d4a.com ..
Your still going to have to add something to the domain name , also it justs redirects so I think its baseless.
For example you want a domain called for example **www.creative.com** then using D4a your problem will not get solved because your URL will be read as **www.creative.d4a.com**. Hence I dont think its a viable solution.
If thats acceptable to you you can use it regards.
if u want something to make ur site name shorter go to http://www.freedomain.co.nr/basic.php it has no forced ads or popups.
Yeah there was a few domain subscribers giving away .INFO domains a long time ago and I got my deal of them, but I think that was about 8 or 10 months ago and they aren't doing it anymore. I got like over 20 domains and they are going to expire soon enough.
Yeah i just found www.joynic.com and got one of theirs but it isnt a .com domain its a .US.TT Oh well. Didn't hurt to look.
Yes I just registered a .us.tt domain and I dont like it, they force advertisements.
Ads? No they don't. You just have to get around it. Their toolbar thing is BUGGY!! But I got out of their toolbar. It says on their site that the ads are optional.

GoZing Surveys used to pay US$4 per survey... But now, it's only US$1
I've got like AU$40 from GoZing as i've been a member since last year
That's how I paid for my domain. I got my domain from domainsite.com, their 'basic' domain registration is only US$6.99
you can get yourself free domain redirection @ www.co.nr
I knw the www.googleforum.in is giving away free hosting and domain names to anyone with 500 posts.
If you are prepared to do that,go ahead.
You might want to try with http://freedns.afraid.org/ , but the times it works are few! If you are lucky, you might get it to work! There is a friend of mine who managed to configure it to work, but I didn't cause it doesn't work with any webhost!
If it doesn't work, than it means you won't be able to get a domain for free cause there isn't such a thing! If you are lucky, you may get a .info domain cause these are free now and then, but that's it!
Good luck!
I have a .tk along with my .net domain name for my website and the only problem with a TK is its basically just a redirect. It takes the content from your page and puts it under a different URL, which is great except you cant have subdomains or subdirectories in your URL.
The only way with a .tk to get a subdomain to work is to add a really long php script to the top of each of your HTML pages. But thats really tedious, but its free.
I'd recommend that you fork over the cash,a s its a good investment. THere are registrars who don't require you use a credit card, like dnbuy and godaddy. They're cheap. I got my .com's at dnbuy for $8.97USD/yr. That's not too bad (paid w paypal no CC -n they req 2 yrs if that method of payment). GoDaddy'll do it if you mail payment (your domain's good when they cash the cheque). There are ways.
www.dot.tk and www.cjb.net are probly the best that i have ever seen or found but when in doubt search google
uni.cc is one of the free domain .
Remember there's NO free.com and .net domain .
try ne1.net
wats wrong paying for 1? i ahve and i am still in school, i think u could aford 1
a free .com is IMPOSSIBLE
You do get it dude. Here's the link
-http://www.freedomainsname.com/signup.php?
Do not expect too much. If I am right they will be the owners of the domain. You have to earn points to renew it every year. Not advisable until you can't spend little dollars.

Free sub domain have many. For example is 98.to(chinese), dot tk . However , I don't think you can get a free dotcom.
I think you should get a TK it is add free, there is a banner but you can disable it and it has proven to work just fine.
And yet again, shell out $8.97 US for your very own at dnbuy.com or even less if you wanna send a cheque to GoDaddy.
ahhaa.. thats funny.. no such thing as free domain these days... all the sites that used to offer free domain doesnt do it no more.... ehhe.. but, dot.tk still do... but .tk domain kinah odd...
Try freedomain.co.nr. It is not that good but not bad as well. But they are strict. You need their 88x31 banner on your website. It is compulsory
what does gozing do? and how would they pay if i do not have a CC?
there's no absolute free domain name now
you can get on but you have to display ads for return
www.co.nr is the best i would say, dot.tk is horrible and im soon gonna get paid hosting i found 1 for 3.95/month and godaddy offer 10 years for 6.95/year which is awsome. So lol, it would be 47.40 for hosting and 6.95/year which would be $53.35. that is awsome ill be paying 53.35/year for all my stuff its amazing.
I tried out the .tk thing, and I have to say... if someone ends up taking my domain redirection, Im gonna be pissed... lol
I've seen a few sites where they offer free domains to students and non profit organizations. Too lazy to dig through my bookmarks to find you guys any links, but I'm sure it's possible.

Hello ppls
Go to http://smallbusiness.yahoo.com/domains and book your domain for less than 3 USD today. I dont know how long they r going to give this offer.
I have 4 domains and 3 was booked for 1.99 about a month back and 1 was booked for 2.99 about a week back.
If you cant spend atleast 3 USD for your domain then you dont deserve to own a domain.
There r lots of free hosting services like frihost that give you free premium hosting plans so that you can conduct your online business. so typically for your online business or your personal page if you cant spend 3 USD and look for free domain name then I WOULD ASK YOU NOT TO BOOK A DOMAIN AND FORGET ABOUT IT. If you want everything for free then that would be too much to ask.
So forget about free domain name.
If you want to own a domain name, you have to pay for it. The .tk ones can be registered and used for free, however they are not owned by you.
Domain names are not expensive these days, I pay £1.99 per year. It hardly breaks the bank...
Don't know if anyone said this, but cydots.com!
Thats free hosting, and a bad one at that....
not free, but yahoo ran a special that could still be running for 2.99/yr .com domain names.
for hosting, you could use the service provided here (very good so far, in my experience), or others ones listed on a site like
http://www.absolutely-free-hosting.com/
unless you really don't like to be active occaisionally in forums, you'd probably be better off with frihost.
Never for FREE but you can register a "www.yourdomain.tk". Actually, it just redirects yourdomain.tk to yourlongsubdomain.com. Works fine if your not particular with the tk extension.
Wanna give it a try? http://www.dot.tk/
| pjv wrote: | Never for FREE but you can register a "www.yourdomain.tk". Actually, it just redirects yourdomain.tk to yourlongsubdomain.com. Works fine if your not particular with the tk extension.

Yeah we know its already been said on page 1 or 2
you should just use Yahoo, sign up for your domain name. They have a deal now for 3 bucks a year for a .com or .net name. Its practially stealing.
Have you tried www.onesite.com? If you're a student in America, it's free, and you get 50MB, MySQL, PHP, 3GBs of transfer a month. For everyone else, it's $7.99 start up fee, and every month after that it's free.
In this sites you can get free domain,http://www.onesite.com/,but you must have a student email address end in .edu, If your student email address does not end in .edu you will need to fax in a copy of your student ID and drivers liscence for verification.
Try the following - dot.tk
It has free dot tk domain names - read this
Tokelau is a small place. A delegation from the Dot TK team went to all three atolls to present what the Internet can mean to such a small country.
n meetings with the Council of Elderly we came to the conclusion that Internet can not only bring advanced communications, but also medical aid (Telemedicine) and a better education.
Or search Google for "free dot com domain name".
avoid cjb.net, it's just terrible in general
i'd say www.freedomain.co.nr is the best. you have to put up a small button but it's really not that bad. and you can have subdomains
At www.freedomain.co.nr they give you a free .co.nr domain. Also you could buy a extremely cheap .com, .net, .org, .biz, .info and .us for only $2.95 a year at http://www.freedomain.co.nr/cheapest_domain_names.php.
free domain?... i dont think so
Hm, everyone mentions it all but .be? Why not get a free .be domain? No ads, just a pure Belgium domain free for one full year. Info:
Signup Deadline: End of this month
Cost: Nothing, free for a whole year
Quantity: Up to 20 .be domains, FOR FREE
Other info: No credit card required
Website: http://eurodns.com
Signup, then login and in the search domains box, put in like "domain" and it will auto search if domains called "domain" are available. If "domain.be" is available, click "Add To Cart" and go to "View Cart" and buy (COSTING NOTHING). Then configure the nameservers to frihosts once the domain is activated (will tell you in e-mail).
Hope this helps out,
Freezon
If you do not care about the domain name, just want a free one, try the followings (they also have dynamic DNS support!)
www.no-ip.com
www.dyndns.org
Cheers...
There is no any service provider providing free toplevel domain.
Yahoo's where i got my domain.
It was 2.95 for 1 domain.
There really isn't a free domain anymore.
It costs around $3 to register your domain with ICANN.
You'll never get a free high class domain(.net / .com / etc.) for free. If there is, we will have that domain >.>
You might have a free domainname which is net, com, info or org after about 20-30 years.Dont wait for it,get a paid domainname for you.
If you want to have a free domain you should go to www.ezyrewards.com which you have to refer people and earn points to obtain your free domain. There are other prizes that you can receive when you have a certain number of points. When you have this no. of points they will give you this voucher which is your free real domain. You will have to click and sign up on their advertising partners websites. Once you have signed up and completed their offers it will mostly take like 48 hours to get the points. If you refer people and they complete offers, you and them will receive points.
Also try going to www.domain-4free.com they give out free domains but they also add advertisements onto your website. I am not sure if they are really 100%.
| pjv wrote: | Never for FREE but you can register a "www.yourdomain.tk". Actually, it just redirects yourdomain.tk to yourlongsubdomain.com. Works fine if your not particular with the tk extension.

I have one, but it's totally useless. It just shows an error screen every time! It's a real pain .
It is the best ! there servers unfortuantly are always down for checking the visiter count
maan thats easy
there is lots of sites that support a freedomain or sub domain plus hosting but with limited materials like limited bandwith or space or so
here are some of them
www.freeservers.com
www.mydottk.tk
www.cjb.net
www.geocities.com
www.freedomains.com
plus if want more you can search the google site www.google.com for free web hosting or free domains and u will get lots of them
hope that was fruitfull
see ya
i know where you can get a domain for free within 15 minutes If you wnt pm me
I myself resitered 2 domains
I have used a bunch of them here is m reviews:
Dot.tk : Liked the service, it had a nice control panel, the domain will not redirect to an i.p. address (a.k.a. a home server). Also you dont have control over your favicon and it has no path forwarding ( e.g. cant do http://yoursite.tk/login/index.php, it is only http://yoursite.tk)
.C.Nr : I would be a very good service if it had one thing different, they require you to put a small image on your site linking back to them, the image says FREE domains by .co.nr) besides that it was very user friendly
Unic.net ( i think): Excellent service, path forwarding, no ads, favicon, go user control, very fast servers. It also has a good choice of domains.
| MaartenVdP wrote: | | I think you should get a TK it is add free, there is a banner but you can disable it and it has proven to work just fine. |
Wrong, .tk domains (besides the official site) do not work on firefox whatsoever. I refuse to switch to IE, too many problems with IE (also much slower downloading speeds, 400 KB less).
Um, yah, .tk works fine in firefox dood. I'm using it right onw, you just have to turn off the advertisements on your site. Go inot your user panel and tunr it off.
yea .tk works in firefox. I don't know what you are talking about. www.teenzine.tk works for me. If you still don't belive me i will send you a screen shot.
Microsoft are giving away free doamins at the moment but the catch is that you need a credit card to Sign up.
As far as I know there is not a catch to the site and when it expires you can quit or pay-per-month

You also need to be in the US, so that rules out the majority of the world's population. More details at this thread:

hi..
you are so lucky. Now get upto 5 .info domains for free of cost (1 year).
just visit http://oneandone.com
it is a limited time offer. So hurry up.

Know, I know this remains a favorite, but i really dislike dot tk for a few reasons:
-Setup is a long and boring process
-New website redirects to correct webpage only half of the time; if you forget www you'll end up on the dot tk page
-you can't see the actual url
-there are commercials before you enter the site
-there is a stupid bar at the top
basically, using dot tk is like driving a car that says "buy me", "new ___ 2006"; it is REALLY cheap...so break your piggy bank and get a .com, even though good names are hard to find though...have fun!
not right
u need to have 1 visitor in a month and has somewhere on ur page a link to co.nr. Just do it in the color of ur background and make it very small. its just a script who checks the links (i believe)
Well..
I have searched everywhere in the net and I think NOW, it is best to find a .com or .net domain by buying one for yourself. It's better.
I'm planning to afford one this month or later.
Just after I got my website working.
But how am I gonna ever start it if I don't have enough motivation to do it?
I'm planning to get one domain later.. Later.. It's now cheaper than 10 bucks. In my country, you only pay around 7 or 8 bucks a year. But I am actually still trying to get the cheaper than that. I think 7 is good enough?

Read all the posts preceding it
You will notice that he is referring to a small banner by freedomain not a text or keyword list
Only text is not allowed in same color
But it is a banner of a totally different company.. read the above posts once again
Reddishblue, this thread is about free top level domain names, not free hosting. We all know Frihost is the best free hosting site!
the free domains are not good
there isnt thing in the life for free
Guys, a simple tirck with the text being the same colour as the background. All you have to do is make it an extremely similiar colour. The code google uses is something like
get.bgcolour();
get.fontcolour();
ifFontColour == bgColour {
search = false();
}
Very similiar to flash and C++ code. So by making it like, say your bg colour is 777777 (Grey) then make the text 777776 And you shall not be penalized, unless reported (unlikely).
Wrong, they force to link bak, a type of image link, and is not optional.
1. Get a Free domain name - www.yourname.biz.ly and point it to 'your own' DNS servers, control all the DNS records like A, MX and CNAME records, etc.
2. Point your free domain to your IP address (A record) or use free url forwarding to point it to your existing website.
3. Create Unlimited free subdomains like forum.yourname.biz.ly and point them to your other web sites or where you wish
4. You can also create Unlimited number of Free Branded Email Addresses like webmaster@yourname.biz.ly, sales@yourname.biz.ly, etc.

Nic.Biz.ly does NOT provide any services for such types of sites like personal homepages, clan sites, adult related sites, future/under-construction projects and more.
2. No any Instant Account activation.

This is a rival site to Frihost. Not sure why you would be promoting it here. Also, these are subdomains, not domains in their own right which is what this topic is about.
Want a free domain name? I am auctioning a .info off in marketplace right now.
peace be upon you all
freedomain.co.nr is totaly free domain name with extension co.nr, it's not bothering anyone to be co.nr ,it's just free and comfortable and they offer .com.net.org... for 6.5$ for a year WOW it's so cheap.
Peace be upon you all
i am selling domains in just $7.9/year.PM me if you wanna it.
If you want a free subdomain, http://freedns.afraid.org/ have a wide variety to choose from... I don't really use their services that much anymore though, as *.aus.cc doesn't work anymore (which was the domain I was using most of the time)
I thought any one would know this I searched the 4 pages quickly to see if any one mentioned it .. but what a surprize you do not know it !
OK I got my domain name without paying a cent .. It is a .com domain..
I have no credit card to pay for an online one and I live in a country where you can buy a domain for about 40 or 50 $ this means about 200 or 250 of my local currency !!
I mean I am not miser. But this is really too much money to pay for a domain .. It is just a name !
I do not know if writing such url is legal in this great forum or not .. and I do not want to be banned from this forum.. So I hope any moderator writes that this is a legal act and I will then post the link to the site where you can get a free domain name.
you can go to d4free.net

there seems no free domain available.
well i know one such website. Its www.domain-helper.com It gives free .com, .info,.org etc domains but it has some conditions.first of all ur site should have a minimum of 30 visitors traffic daily. Then u have to place their links on every page of ur website.

How about just post regularly here on Frihost, earn the coins and exchange them for a free domain voucher?
Only way to get free domain is posting and active in this forum.
Really im waiting to get free domain.

I say thats the most reasonable approach everyone would take after spending months trying to get a free domain. I agree with people saying "If its too good to be true, it probably is." Means that if someone's saying "Free Domains here" its probably a scam.

I never knew you were allowed to advertise your own services on this website. Anyway there are much cheaper plans on the web now days.
I am really looking foward to the frihost free domain name. Cant wait.
free domain names are not popular any more these days.domains are cheap enough,.com domains are only 12 dollars each year.I register my own .com domain name for 8 dollars each year from godaddy.
My domain name is http://www.itechbook.com. is this a good one ?
I found a site just recently that gives away expired domain names for free. You just have to search for a keyword and you get a lot of expired .com, .net, etc. with your keyword in it. But I wasn't able to bookmarked the site so I forgot the name of the site. I search for free expired domains but I have not found it. All was selling cheap expired domains.
Anyways, I'm trying to be active in this forum to get a free domain name. I'll see if that is really true. I found other free to host websites that also gives away free domains for posts. Finding one is really hard.
There isn't any free domain service. However, you can get free URL forwarding, or domain masking, in which you get a supposed "domain name" but actually it acts just like a hyperlink which links the address to the original location of the web pages. One such service is www.dot.tk
Another one is www.co.cc, and another useful one is co.nr Do have a look at all of these and then decide upon the best.
I created an account purely to post this one post... You can get a free .com domain at gybo.com. No strings attached, no credit card needed, absolutely free. Also as well as getting a free .com com you can choose (instead of .com) .me,.net,.info,.biz or .org (and their might be others). Oh and gybo is for american customers, but they dont check, and after being redirected to intuit, you can change to united kingdom, so its for uk and us. and if you want .co.uk, go to gbbo.com. both sites are courtesy of google.com.

This isn't going to be a long reply, but I say if you want a free domain, dot.tk will be the closest you get. You can register a site like, for example free-site.tk I used dot.tk and loved it; Since it is the closest you will get. I lost mine since my previous host went bye bye :s.
Any other place is not really, in my opinion, a domain name. Besides, the popularity of .com has went down since the dot.com boom days.
Also you can check freebie sections of big forums like DigitalPoint, Namepros and sometimes you can find members offer free domains there.

I've heard some reports of people who lost their .tk domains as a consequence. The renewal rule at dot.tk says one has to log into their Website frequently. Their notice period is 15 days before expiry. And one can only renew within those 15 days and not before.
See paragraph 10.1 - http://www.dot.tk/en/doc_tcfree_v360.pdf
They also have strict conditions of use, which is probably a good thing for maintaining high standards. See 10.3.

Also you must have so much hits on your site within ninety days to keep your domain active. Don't remember the number currently.
