NAFTA Superhighway and North American Union

jwellsy
Has any one heard of a NAFTA Superhighway being built 10 lanes wide from Mexico up through the midwest to Canada? I've heard that the Teamsters are all kinds of upset about it. I checked Snopes to see if it's a myth, nothing there yet.

Strange things are brewing.

And the reason they can't simply use existing interstates (at least while in the US) and expand those roads as needed when traffic levels dictate is what?

I heard that too, plus that the US, Canada and Mexico are gonna get a common currency, the Amero. Haha, that's probably just conspiracy theories though.

Would be nice if they could do the same with citizenship as they have done with Euro Passports. Although possibly it does not stand a chance as the south would probably be swamped by Mexicans, unless they can add limitations. Pity though, would have been nice to have borderless countries. If you could have 50 States, with no immigration borders, yet some differences in their Governments, should probably be doable to amalgamate with at least Canada. If Obama really makes a success with his socialist policies, perhaps it could be doable? Smile

A common currency? If it did happen it would probably end up just being the good old dollar. American currency is already widely accepted in Mexico.

I disagree. I don't think any country with a choice would want to have american money as their official currency.

Who said there would be a choice?

Unless the US will be taking over Mexico and Canada by force, there will be a choice.

Unless the US will be taking over Mexico and Canada by force, there will be a choice.

There are other forces that can be used other than military force. If the US can provide a more steady and reliable currency, and sufficient tourism/trade, the dollar can make headway towards being accepted in Mexico, as it already has.

Having one currency for multiple nations officially won't work without an official union of the countries though. Otherwise, for instance, Mexico could start printing billions of genuine US dollars, and inflate the currency. The Euro only works because the EU is there. If there was a North American Union (NAU) just like the EU, then one currency for US, Mexico, and Canada could work.
