Reducing CRT flickering?

weableandbob
Is there a way to reduce the amount of flickering an old CRT monitor does? Today I hooked up an old one I had lying around as a second monitor, and it's great, except I can always see it flickering out of the corner of my eye, which gets really annoying. It seems to be less noticeable when I'm at my desktop, most likely because it's mostly black. I've tried reducing the contrast/brightness, but that only helps a little, if at all.

*edit* Nevermind, I upped the refresh rate, and that did the trick.

You can try increasing the screen refresh rate frequency accessible either by:

1.) right click mouse on screen --> select 'Properties" --> go to 'settings' --> Click 'Advanced' --> select 'Monitor' --> Then under Monitor settings, increase the refresh rate and click OK.

2.) Click on your 'Start' icon on the bottom left --> go to 'Control Panel' --> Double click on 'Display' --> select 'Settings' --> Click 'Advanced' --> select 'Monitor' --> Then under Monitor settings, increase the refresh rate and click OK.

If this doesn't work, then probably your monitor is starting to fail.
