Hello,

I don't like cars, I don't drive, I don't have a license, I don't want a car at this point of my life.
I truly HATE the "gas guzzlers" guys and I hope that public transportation will help in the future NOT to buy a car.

Now, I have a question: What's wrong with the "Top Gear" guys? When my remote control stop on this kind of TV program, I watch.
I think is the third or fourth time in the last time when these guys are comparing the English cars with German cars. And ALL THE TIME they find better the English cars.
Today they compared a Vauxhall with BMW, Audi, Mercedes... and guess what? Vauxall worth it more!
They say that is better to buy a Vauxhall because is cheaper and do the same thing: drive.
And the only reason for BMW to be more expensive is because it have BMW logo on it.

What's wrong with these guys??

You compare BMW, Audi, Mercedes with Vauxhall and this Vauxhall beat them up!!!?
What the f... ??

You know, this name, Vauxhall, is not even recognized by the Firefox spelling!!!

You like it is because it is good television. The program is factual yet very comedy oriented hence it attracts more wider audience. You do not have to be a car fan to love this show. It is just the way they do it, and make it very interesting. Credit goes to them and the producing team since they are just very talented people.

Well they make it pretty clear on what and why they prefer english cars. A BMW is truely faster, more agile and more robust on the road, however it is not as pretty as an Aston Martin, or Jaguar. On the other hand Aston Martin is not as good in performing on track as BMW. So they take all things in consideration, like how is it like to drive it, live with it on day to day basis etc. And that is what makes the final balance twist in favor of english cars. Anyway they also like Porsche, and Mustang and Ford GT etc so it is the total package that a car has to offer than wins it. If you look at the lap time wall of the show, you will notice that no english car is in top 5, so the show is pretty honest in what they say.

For your info Vauxhall is very old company, part of world biggest car company 'General Motors' and they do produce a wide range of cars, all the way from Fiesta to top of the range VXR's. I saw the show you are talking about, and the point Jeremy was trying to make was that Vauxhall is better value for money and BMW costs more for it is actually worth. It does not change the fact that BMW is superior car, however you could probably buy a better car for the same money.

Regarding the question why do they prefer the British cars? Well it is a british show "duh" and you did not see the episode were they raced the german "top gear" team and won. They do like the german cars and you can see that on the cool wall. But they are pricey.

I'm not really a car guy but I find Top Gear really funny, because they talk about cars in a down-to-earth way even if they sneak in their wonderful British hautiness and car lingo. Plus, they do off-the-wall type stuff occasionally like try to turn a car into a space craft. You gotta admit that's just awesome.

yeah this show's hilarious, but you have to take some of their reviews with a grain of salt

it pretty creative and appealing, but I have to agree on the vauxhall comparison, but I also have not seen too much prejudice in the show overall. I have never heard of this car, but will definately google it now and see what its all about. Smile

sheedatali said it all.... different cars suit different drivers..its how you drive...where you drive..and how you like the appeal of the car..as far as the show goes its a show..it's geared towards catching people who arent even that into cars...they bring out the key selling points of the cars..make them all look fun and nevr focus on the negative of a vehicle unless its being compared to another car...hence saying "this ones faster but this one hugs the road"...so they really make everything look good.
