Do you mean clearing your search history?
Firefox: Tools > Clear Private Data
Internet Explorer: Tools > Internet Options > General (tab) > Click the "Delete" button in the Browsing History section.
I think he is providing a link on how you can delete the data, because the link he gave us shows you how to delete the link history I believe.

I did actually want to know how to delete the address bar data. I updated my page when I found out how to do so.

If you are looking for a way to stop the default page that launches when you start firefox, go to tools options and set "when firefox starts' to "show blank page".
On a related note, the address list in Inernet explorer can be modified from the registry. Its a bit complicated,but you can use it to play pranks or something. Or to program something to clear the data automatically or something

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\TypedURLs
Then Delete the value.
