Simple steps to build website for a beginner.

Kingsley
Hi,
Can any one tell me some simple steps to build my website from development to publishing on the web without programming?

There are numerous tools you can use that will build a website for you without coding it. Dreamweaver is probably the best, but it's not cheap; you can download a trial from the Adobe website if you want. There are also online generators, but I don't have experience with those.

If you want to learn how to code it yourself, I recommend doing the HTML and CSS tutorials on w3schools.com.

I can tell you a good idea of creating static website without hiring any programmer. Here are simple steps

1. Register a Domain Name which looks like this www.yourdomainname.com
2. Create website either by hiring programmer or by purchasing a development tool.
3. Publish your website through ftp.

For more information of development tools go here A4 Desk Pro Flash Website Builder

I learned by playing with free Website providers like Lycos (Tripod) and Yahoo (Geocities). They usually include loads of extra tips and software to start up your first Website. All you need to do is create a log-in, and then start up the Website. Think the learning starts just by doing it, and then puzzling out to-do's. Once you are doing it, you will start to check out different softwares, perhaps your community college has some classes in Web design? Before you attend classes though, best to try it out first as that is the best start for learning how to do it.

Making a website is a very complex process. Depending on what type of website you would like really changes what you need. Below I have listed some of the things you will need for different type of websites. This is copied from a website that I have had book marked and found very informing for anyone who is starting a website.

to create a basic web page you need

1. computer
2. modem in the computer
3. an account with an ISP Internet Service Provider company
- the account has to include web page hosting - meaning some place on which to put the pages
3B - a domain name
(optional - because some ISP's let you put up web pages under their domain)
4. browser - to see web pages (eg. Netscape, Internet Explorer)
5. content to put on the pages on the web site
6. software to make and edit web pages (HTML editors)
7. software to send the pages to the hosting server

=========================================================

to create a working e-commerce site, you need

1. a product or service to sell
2. a domain name that is registered and hosted
3. web page describing the product/service (steps 3 ~ 7 from the above list)
4. marketing
5. a payment system
6. shipping methods (for physical products)
7. a mechanism to deal with customer service inquiries and returns
8. people to carry out the tasks of 1-7
9. money to pay for the people, domain registration, hosting
10. good luck
- it is a very "competitive" thing to establish a new e-commerce site,
many things can go wrong and you need a bit of luck and hard work to be successful

For a more detailed step by step showing just visit the url below:

I hope this helps you with your issues.

I found a couple of very easy sites for building websites for free--weebly.com and synthasite.com (I think Synthasite changed their name to yola or something). You can get a site up and running in a few minutes and it's free. If you want your own domain name, it's only about $20/year, other wise you get www.yourname.weebly.com or something like that.

File Transfer Protocol. Widely used to upload and download file to webserver. It is very simple to upload your files to your webserver.
1. Download a ftp client
(you can find free ftp clients, trial version, shareware. WS-FTP, coffee cup ftp, etc.,)

2. Register your domain and point your nameservers to you hosting a/c.
(ie. ns1.frih.net, ns2.frih.net)

3. connect to you hosting a/c. using username and password provided by hosting A/c. seller
(You can get shared hosting a/c. from godaddy, yahoo etc., or even free hosting account from
frihost )
4. upload your content to public_html folder or default folder provided by your hoster.

If you are new to webdesign. use Front page or dreamweaver to design your site. or you can download webtemplates and fill with your contents. For free web templates you can visit here : http://www.oswd.org

Hope this will help you

The easier way is to start a blog using wordpress...hands down! There are a lot of different plugins you could use to customize it and you have tons of skins to choose from to better suit your style. the most important thing is: it is so easy to update your blog....if you want to update your normal website, you need at least one software or another.....for website design as well as uploading it...so, if you are going to make a personal blog or whatever, i definitely recommend you to try to use blog.

You can find programs and tools to build websites without "programing". But sooner or later, I guarantee, you will have to have knowledge of the fundamental language of every website ........ Hyper Text Markup Language or HTML.

When you discover bugs in your website, if you want to make changes or expand your website ...... you will need to know HTML.

HTML is not a difficult language and I cannot over emphasize the importance of learning it's basics BEFORE developing your first website. Hours spent learning HTML will pay off handsomely later when you actually do your websites. You will have to pay now or later and now is for sure the way to go.

Good luck and don't be afraid to learn HTML. There are plenty of free courses on the web .... you can begin at:http://www.w3schools.com/html/DEFAULT.asp

*raises hand*
I actually find building my own blog with php is much easier.

And I use Dreamweaver, but lately, I've only been using the preview to test my CSS. XD
