how to use php?

I've seen a few books out on the market where you can read one and learn PHP over a weekend (although to me that seems a bit too fast), it took me many months to learn better usage of PHP and to make me a good programmer (I learned all by myself, I downloaded people's scripts from sites like Hotscripts.com and learned how they did things by reading through the codes). There are many things that you can do with PHP, it's hard to start somewhere and not cover most of what it can do. PHP's function list is huge, I would suggest you start to read up on the basic syntax of how PHP goes and to learn some of the functions on what they do and how they're supposed to be used.
