Theremin derived from oscillating circuit [physics]

TomS
Hi folks.
I wonder how I can build the most simple theremin using an oscillating circuit.

I've got this schemativ from my physics school book, and I wonder how to replace the condensator with an antenna.

Note this has to be a very simple theremin. No volume-antennaand such stuff.

The simplest theremin schematic I found uses quite a lot diods and transistors etc...
Is this all needed in order to replace the condensator with the antenna or is there an easier way.

I don't know if this helps your situation any, but you may want to look at the Drawdio - Turn Almost Anything Into a Theremin. This video shows it off . This one here appears to be the most Macgyver-ish of em and likely the least expensive...

Wow, look at this much simpler theremin:

You need:

1 Protoboard

2 fixed inductances (shock) de 100 uh (micro henry)

2 transistors PNP : on the left: BC558 and on the right 2n3906

1 capacitor of 100nF polyester ( mines are yellow, siemens, I guess).

1 ceramic capacitor 1,5 nF(1n5)

1 normal stereo jack ( I've joined both)

1 (9V) battery. It'll work as an antenna.
