I really want to get to know him, but I am not sure how to get him to notice me!

Ummmm... Try talking to him. That's usually a nice way to get someone to notice you.
Depends who he is? He may be someone who needs to take the initiative, so in that case it could be a good idea to ignore him totally. He would notice the difference and it could matter to him.
Talk to him. Ask him for help with something. But don't bug him too much.

And add a good smile to your hello, it makes him notice you.

As said above, talking is KEY. No one usually notices people that don't interact. If you get talking on a regular basis, try flirting a bit, and eventually this guy may take a liking to you. Give it a shot, but just remember, don't expect him to come to you
