Most Americans approve of President-elect Barack Obama’s transition to the White House so far, according to a new a CNN/Opinion Research Corp. survey. Seventy-nine percent approve of his performance and 18 percent disapprove.

That number is 14 points higher than President-elect George Bush received in 2001 and 17 points higher than President-elect Clinton's rating in 1992, CNN reports. It’s also more than 50 points higher than President Bush's current approval rating

He has hardly done a single significant thing lol...

The only things to disapprove of are his cabinet choices and quite a number of people likely didn't even pay a lot of attention to that.

And of the ones that did pay attention, many are upset about his choices... hardly an auspicious start.

I think quite a number of people (me included) were horrified when Bush was elected the way he was. He was unwelcome right from the start. Felt as though he was foisted on everyone. At least Obama is starting with a warm welcome by at least the majority of people Smile

I think it is a good sign that the people of America are satisfied with the president-elect.

I remember in 2004 (when I first landed in the US) how people were aghast that Bush was re-elected.

At least now, people will have some confidence in the government, and this will rub off well into their actions in society in general.

Also, the rest of the world will start to look at America in a new light and not the sense of distrust that they had with Bush at the helm.

Hope Obama would be able to fulfill the expectations that everyone has from him!
