Do you think with all this money floating around players have become corrupt, that some accept favors to drop a catch or a match....

Corruption in Cricket
This thing can happen in any sport. There are lots of money involved and you never know.
does it turn you off?
I 've had such an averstion that i've stopped taking active interest in many sports.....

it happens in all sports and it definately does turn me off in a way that I would always love the sport to be played fairly.
it seems that many people accept it....
What guarantee that you WILL get a catch?
So like u are on a contract, that everytime u get a catch u will drop it?
No certainity there, unless , like the old ddays, half of the team had taken money for this concpet to work now adays

Without proofs we can never say that who did corruption specially in sports. This is also true that this can happen in many sports as in football, you can find lots of articles and even some video compilations on youtube that state that the loss of Brazil against France in 1998 final and in 2006 quarter final was planned because france has a political influence on brazil. We can never know and as long as it is not prooved, you cannot claim any thing.
The facts that are presented are of course penetrating but they can always happen in the real sense as well. As for example, in 2006 quarter final, brazil made just a few (may be only one, I do not axactly remember) shots on the goal even after they hade conceded one goal. Confusing enough but still this can certainly happen in a normal game.
Any way, when we start to feel such a thing happening in a game even if it is not corruption, the interest is lost, at least for me. Good fighting games when there is a two way struggle for victory are actually games that absorb people.

Well by nature sportsmen take pride in what they can achieve, it is showman ship and visual proof of achievement to get wider acceptance. I personally do not believe that corruption can occur without outside influence, if you think about it then it is clear that people (i-e spectators) make it personal and that is where bets/corruption/scams come in. Players are influenced to do things which are against the rules and regulations of the game. So my opinion is that more regulation is required around players, examples need to set and more importantly the spirit/education needs to be improved on player side to make them aware of the dangers of such things and how could they affect the game.

cricket is an easy sport for players to take money and deliberately fail without being to obvious
Catches get dropped
Batsman hit great shots but straight at fielders
Bowlers even easier, hold the bowl different so it doesnt swing, bowl a slightly different line...
Its easy for cricket players to get away with it...
Look at Hansie Cronje

Corruption is not as big a problem now as is terrorist threat. It's a shame that the players are getting shot at.
