Thats only because the 60's/70's generation still dominate these polls, weather it be public votes or critic votes, give it 10 years and you will find albums from the 80's and 90's dominating those polls.

Doubtful. The 80s and 90s only brought a handful of respectable bands and they all got covered in miles of junk.

The ACTUAL best album ever isn't in any Top 40 or Top 100 charts, because it doesn't actually suck like almost everything in a Top 40/100 chart (except for Muse, who are actually awesome).

It is:

Symphony X - Paradise Lost.

No contest. Best album ever.
venometal
metallica - ride the lightning

Not a single Iron Maiden album on that list yields it inaccurate. More examples of how metal gets no respect at all.

The whole opinionated concept of the word best yields it inaccurate. That and the audience for that site probably doesn't have a wide metal fanbase.

I'm particularly biased for Dookie by Green Day.

I actually prefer the other Linkin Park offerings but Best album though, thats a hard one. We can do this by genre, by decade, by album sales lol
Yasser_Bishesari

I THINK IT DOES NOT REALLY MAKE SENSE TO JUST CHOSE ANY ALBUM AND CALL IT BEST FOR EVER NO MATTER HOW MUCH ONE MAY CLAIM TO LOVE THE ALBUM. INFACT ANYONE WHO CALLS ANY ALBUM BEST FOR EVER IS SIMPLY CELEBRATING OR PUBLICLY ANNOUNCING HIS PESSIMISTIC NATURE. HE IS TELLING EVERYONE HIS BEST IS ALREADY INPLACE. HE IS EXPECTING NOTHING BETTER. I RATHER SAY THE BEST ALBUM SO FAR IS GAME OVER BY P. SQUARE FROM NIGERIA.
slashnburn99
Slippery When Wet - Bonjovi
tingkagol
How about if we polled the best album by decade? The 90s? The 80s?
gverutes
Linkin Park is terrible.
