What do you think is the greatest wrestling promotion ever?
I personally think the WWF (from around 1995-2002) was the greatest promotion ever. WCW was also good around 1997 (although that was about the only year that it was good). TNA is pretty entertaining right now (currently much better than the WWE). CZW is pretty entertaining (although in my opinion it's not really wrestling - it's just entertaining violence). IWA and Japan also have some entertaining wrestling... basically I've listed a bunch of options. So what is your favorite wrestling promotion? Why? I personally listed the ones I have for the following reasons: WWF had the "attitude" and storylines; WCW - during 1997 - had the original NWO; CZW, IWA, and Japan have violent matches that are entertaining to watch (even though I don't really consider that violence); TNA has good, quality wrestlers and decent storylines.
- Also, everyone is entitled to their opinion, but please, don't just leave replies talking about how stupid and "fake" wrestling is. I don't care. If you don't like it, please just don't reply unless you have a point that will contribute to the conversation.
WWF during the attitude era. I was actually entertained for 2 full hours on their shows. Now when I watch the WWE, I'm entertained 0 seconds of the 2 full hours. Pretty sad.
Yeah, I would have to say that WWE (then WWF) was the most entertaining during the mid to late 90s (maybe even a little early on into 2000). The storylines were cutting edge and the individuals they had on their roster made their show very entertaining to watch.
Now the show is just really hard to watch. In fact, I haven't watched a show non-stop for years. I switch it on every once in a while to see what's going on, but quickly get bored. They have definitely lost it.
WWF during the Attitude Era was the best. It's very boring now.
I've grown too old to enjoy this anymore, but when I was a kid I loved WWF - back in the era with the likes of Heart Foundation, Hulk Hogan, Andre The Giant, Earthquake, Sgt Slaughter, Brutus Beefcake, Mr Perfect, Davey Boy Smith, The Rockers, Legion Of Doom, Demolition, Jake The Snake, Superfly Snuka and so on and so on. 
I got into the WCW via wrestling magazines mainly back when Sting won his first world title (he had short blone hair back then), and when Scott Steiner wasn't a meat head as he is now. Well I watch WWE and my favourite wrestler is John Cena.

I feel you there. I like most of the people you listed. I didn't really like Hulk Hogan because he completely ruined the WCW (if you ever watched it... not just read the magazines) and because he sucks at wrestling. However, I still respect what he did for the wrestling business and how he transformed it into what we see today. If it wasn't for him, there probably would not have been the greats of the late 90's like Shawn Michaels, The Rock and Stone Cold and the greats of the 2000's like Edge (who credits Hogan to inspiring him to become a wrestler), Triple H, etc. I also did not like Bret Hart very much. He was a great wrestler, and I have a huge amount of respect for him as a wrestler. However, I've watched interviews of him and he's an ass! It was those videos that made me decide that I never want to meet my childhood heroes (I may lose respect for them).

I guess if you want to call John Cena a wrestler... I wouldn't call him a wrestler since he sucks at wrestling... but to each their own (I have some bias because I hate Cena; most people that have watched the WWF/E for 10+ years (I've watched since the mid 90's) will agree because they have watched Cena ruin the WWE... but if you're a new fan or a kid you'll probably like him).First, someone saying TNA has a better product, really needs to wake up

Grow up and realize that half of WWE is tired of Shawn's pathetic face and sad story lines...atleast Cena provides more entertainment

That's why I quit watching wrestling. Same old faces (and I do mean OLD) and the same old storylines. It just got really dull watching the same thing over and over.
The reason the WWE (then WWF) was so successful in the mid-to-late 90s was because they pushed their young stars. They weren't afraid to take risks. They weren't afraid to do things differently.
Now, I'm afraid, they lost track of what made them so successful to begin with. It seemed the great storylines came so easily "back in the day". Now, it seems like they try too hard. Everything seems so forced. They have lost touch with their roots. And by roots I don't mean old wrestlers still trying to wrestle and pass the torch to the younger talent.
Push the younger talent. I'm sure they are trying to now, but not too many people seem interested anymore. I feel the WWE has lost their window to push the younger talent and now it's too late.
But still...WWE is by FAR the best wrestling promotion now and of all time and it's not even close.
I loved the WWF attitude era and WCW when the NWO was hot (before they turned into like 900 different NWO factions). TNA's wrestling is pretty decent. Current WWE's wrestling is downright horrible.
I think Punk, Cody Rodes, Ted Dibiase and a few other have a LOT of potential
I hate Cody Rhodes looks, but he has a lot of potential, with or without daddy power
There are a lot of guys out there, just go to papa triple H and tell him to let us play
Remember , Cena is one superstar who people love and hate as a FACE... doesnt happen often
I mean, the rock was a face, when he was booed....but Cena is different.
Half of the arena can love him, and half will hate him, and we get great atmosphere

But Cena has pretty much made a huge contribution to ruining the WWE. He brought it from an adult oriented show to a little kid show (remember that game? "pick-a-boo... you can't see me").
Yes, he is a face and half of the crowed hates him and the other half loves him... but the half that hate him are the people that have watched wrestling for years and seen how people like him (but it's not just him... i can write an entire book on the death of the wwe just like a few people wrote an entire book on the death of wcw - which was quite a good book) ruined the wwe while the half that like him are either little kids, girls, and marks.
