Advertising on Forums?

Do you guys think it is very effective to advertise on other forums?

I have done some PPC on Google, submitted to directories, etc. But what about advertising on forum posting, is this even worth my time? Just recently I have been advertising a lot on a lot of different forums, but I was just wondering if I am wasint my time or not.

Any input is appreciated.
