Which Photoshop version do you like the most?
So, which version do you like the most?
I'm using CS3. By far that's the best version compared to older ones. But I haven't tried CS4 yet. I don't think I'll upgrade for a while until the price drops or when it reaches the "specials" shelf.
Still using CS2, I like it. Pretty useful for myself and I don't really need much more. I've also used the newest version of Elements and I like it very much. Pretty nice eye candy.
I used CS2 for a while then switched to Gimp. Just recently switched to CS3 and I actually like it a lot more. It fits really well for my work space and works beautifully on my mac
Yeah, I have CS3 extended and recently bought CS4. Of course, I'll have to get used to it- it has some very cool and useful features and it occupies less space than CS3, which is really good.
I use photoshop CS3 now, and feel it's much better than cs2 and cs. performance is good, and 32-bit capability really helps.
Just got CS4. It's EXTREMELY slow, at least on my computer- and I've gotta say, my PC is fast. Content aware scaling (one of the best features of CS4) takes ages and it's almost impossible to do it.

How much RAM does your computer have?
You're computer can't be that fast. I am running 8GB of RAM, and don't have any problems running CS4, it's actually about 3x as fast as CS3.
I think you either have a bad copy of it, or you think your computer can handle it but it really can't.

10 GB- maybe there's something wrong with my copy like you said, I run it the wrong way or I don't know, lol
At school, we use the eMac's and she has installed CS3 for us, and I like it a lot.
However, at home... we just got the desktop cleaned out because it had a virus and I was using Corel x2... and that's lost foreva.
On my laptop, I use GIMP. LMFAO. Yea, I do a lot of switching.

Are you running Windows 32bit or Windows 64bit?
Most common is 32bit, which is what I use.
If your running 64bit, then that is probably your problem, you probably have the wrong version of CS4 to run on 64bit.
Maybe it's graphic card driver compatibility issue, since CS4 use some hardware acceleration. But I'm not sure about it, haven't tested CS4 myself.

That is very possible.
I just recently built my work computer for graphic design, and I ordered all of the latest hardware available, and I have some of the most top of the line stuff you can buy, so I didn't have any problems at all running it on that computer.
However I also have a laptop that is still very good for designing, but not as powerful, and yet I still did not have any problems running it.

CS3, it's faster and good

Ooh- you're right. Yep, I'm running 64 bit. I'm going to try and get another version... Thanks!
Yeah that's why I steer clear of Windows 64-bit for that exact reason. Not every program is completely compatible with 64-bit. I have an extremely powerful system, but due to that exact reason, I had to stay with the 32-bit.
Glad I could help

Right now I prefer CS3, what I do love in CS4 though is the dodge and burn can now preserve tones which is perfect for when I want to retouch skin.
the only photoshop that i have is cs3 as i'm just learning it, i think it is ok but for the little problem..... maybe it may strange but the lighting effect in my cs3 simply does not work, no matter how carefully i follow the tutorials....
so far I used PS 8 and PS CS3
and the one I'd liked most is PS CS3...very comfortable...

To be honest, Elements 2.0 - probably just because I'm used to it the most, rather than other versions, but some of the basic things with image manipulation seem easier that I think are lost in, say, CS3.
For me, CS3 is the best so far
I go for Adobe CS3.
I using CS4 - best choice for me
I use CS3 and it does everything I won't it to do! I have an old computer so CS3 is pretty good for running on older computers.
I have had a look at CS4 and it has better features and there are easier/quicker ways of doing things, so I think I'll move up to CS4 soon.

The workspace options are kind of weird in CS4, I'm not use to it. I really liked CS3's look. I'm sure once I start working with CS4 more I'll won't ever want to go back.
I've used CS2 and now CS3 but I want to try CS4 some time soon.
I'm slowly getting used to CS4 now, but i think i prefer CS3
Not much of a graphics guy, so version 6 does most of the things for me, like resizing, cutting, pasting, etc. =)
I use cs4 now i like the tabbed interface. Except id rather the cs3 logo
CS4 seems like they are starting to redo the interface. I like the 1 click change of interface but it seems to crash a bit more often then CS3.
I am not sure if it has anything to do with where I got my version from

CS2, CS3, CS4 are kind of repetitive all that really is changing is the gui, which is only looks so, i'd say for prefromance CS2, since it's that base to the others, but for looks and feel definantly CS4.
It is varying between features that the performance is better or lower. The usual painting is better in CS4 then before for me, but for example many (most) basic image manipulations are slower from year to year.
When i started with Photoshop i used CS3. I'm using it still. I don't think i'm going upgrade to CS4
Just downloaded cs4 and its overkill im going back to cs3
PHOTOSHOP 7....easiest....best.
