How to copy site in local computer? I downloaded full Backup

shkhanal
I downloaded the full backup, home directory backup, database backups. Now I am confuset how can I use it to my local computer? I'm using Windows XP and WAMP5.

I could import the databases on My SQL. It is successful. Rest I am confused.

Please, anybody know, help me.

The database backup is actually "harder" to restore (normally) because it is not just a case of a simple copy/paste. On the other hand, the other stuff, specifically the files that reside in your webroot, are easier to restore in the sense that a "typical" copy/paste operation would do. I hope that helps... Smile

Well, now you've imported your database to MySQL correctly, the next thing to do is...

- Copy all of your home directory to WWW folder of WAMP5, can you find it?
- Open your config file with text editor like notepad and change the data in it.
The name of the database is the name of database you created.
Your MySQL username is 'root'
Your password is '' (no password)
and your DB host is 'localhost'

For example ....

<?php
// ** MySQL settings ** //
define('DB_NAME', 'here's your DB name'); // The name of your database
define('DB_USER', 'root'); // Your MySQL username is root
define('DB_PASSWORD', ''); // ...and no password
define('DB_HOST', 'localhost'); // you won't need to change this value
define('DB_CHARSET', 'utf8');
define('DB_COLLATE', '');
define('DB_CHARSET', 'utf8');
define('DB_COLLATE', '');
?>

and your local url is...

Code:
http://localhost/yourdirectory/

That all done.

Is it O.K.?

For some script such as Wordpress, you may need to change your home page url in the database manually. In this case, browse your local database with phpmyadmin and looking for where is your previous home page url stored in it (you can do this by searching with your old url) and when you've found just replace it with your new local url.

OK. I will try to change the home page url in my database. Hope this will solve my problem.

I am using Joomla 1.5.6, if this information is useful.

I'll post the result as soon as it is done!

Thank you for your effort to help me.
