Discussion ABOUT "Which taxes...?" topic

Why are only a few people stating their favorite taxes over on the sibling topic?
The description in the topic’s first post is too intimidating.

This topic is a sibling topic to this other one: WHICH TAXES do you most enjoy paying and having others pay?. If you post or put a watch here, it’s recommended that you do so over there as well, as these sibling topics are associated. Some posts here might have been moved from over there.

You are welcome to post directly to here as well. This is the place for discussion related to the other, main topic -- but the strictness of discussional guidelines are loosened here.

I’d like to give public praises to ocalhoun, HoboPelican, and Wynand for their valid entries in the sibling tax topic (and their additional, intelligent discussion).

But, except for a miniscule number of people in the world, everyone likes taxes, right? So, why do you think there aren’t more favorite taxes being named? I’ve added a poll, above, to capture your opinions on this.

[EDITED IN: The Philosopher Princess moved this from the sibling topic.]

The only case in which I would want them to stop taxing it would be if the government completely stopped spending any money on cigarrete-related programs.

So, considering how much more is spent on obesity related programs and healthcare, where is your support for a fatty foods tax?

The much simpler solution is to do away with socialist healthcare solutions and have the government butt out of health and morality altogether.

Thank you for your intelligent comment.....

.....which was moved here due to the double-arrowed rule (of the sibling topic’s first post):

Arrow Arrow Your very first post must be either:
(1) Your choice of favorite tax or taxes, or
(2) A declaration that you are an Anarchist (or specify another name you prefer) who is against all taxes and all Government Programs.

I’m glad to have you in the discussion, kd5nrh! Feel free to continue commenting here, and/or you may post again on the (main) sibling topic by following the double-arrowed rule. Smile

Why was the response minimal?
1: Because nobody cares.
or
2: Because there are very few taxes that people like to pay, which was the subject of the topic.
That's my two theories.

Your theories seem very reasonable to me -- even with various meanings that you might intend.

Do you mean that nobody cares (1) about taxes, (2) about discussing taxes, or (3) just, in general, nobody cares, period?

Why do you think people don’t like to pay very many taxes? Don’t most people very much like to have Government fund all kinds of Government programs? If so, then wouldn’t those same people realize that those programs are funded by taxes? One can’t have one without the other. How could they not like taxes Question
